Chevrolet Beat Essentia To Be Launched In March 2017
Chevrolet's all-new compact sedan which is based on the next-gen Beat hatcback will be launched in India in March 2017.
Chevrolet had showcased its Beat-based sedan, the Essentia at the 2016 Auto Expo. This all-new sedan will be Chevrolet's strong contender in the popular compact sedan segment in the country.
The Essentia sedan will be based on the next-generation Beat hatchback which will hit Indian market early next year. According to reports, the Essentia sedan will be launched in the month of March 2017.
The US car manufacturer has already begun testing the car on Indian roads. It is expected to share many of its components with its hatchback counterpart, along with a few parts from the next-gen Chevrolet Spark.
The overall exterior design and shape will be identical to the concept model which was showcased at the Auto Expo.
However, Chevrolet is yet to reveal the tech-specs for this compact sedan, it is likely to get the same engine as its hatchback sibling.
Which means the Chevrolet Essentia will be powered by a 1-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which is based on the firm's new 1.4-litre Ecotec engine and India-specific 1-litre three-cylinder diesel mill.
Coming to the interior of this new compact sedan, it is speculated that it will share the most of the interior bits from the new Beat hatchback. Which will include Chevy's MyLink infotainment system and large touch screen interface.
Currently, Chevrolet is working on the strategies to improve its market share in India. To achieve that, the company will be adding three cars to its product portfolio in the country.
Chevrolet will be launching the Beat hatchback, Beat Active cross-hatch and the Essentia sedan. When launched the Essentia will go head on with the likes of Hyundai Xcent and Tata's upcoming Kite5 sedan.
