Carlos Sainz Junior is most likely to sign with Toro Rosso for one more year. This will be the third season that the Spaniard will race for Toro Rosso in Formula One. Several rumours have been doing the rounds regarding the future of Carlos Sainz Jr.
Scuderia Ferrari is not sure if they want to continue with Kimi Raikkonen as his contract expires this year. Carlos Sainz Jr. is the most likely candidate to receive the seat at Ferrari. Vettel has explained that he is happy to have Raikkonen as a teammate and would not interfere in the selection process if a new driver needs to be chosen.
Team errors and mechanical issues have hampered Carlos Sainz Junior's performance. So far, the Spaniard has picked up points on five occasions out of the eight races. Carlos Sainz Jr. is confident, fast, and eager to win his very first Formula One Championship.
Unfortunately, Carlos Sainz Jr. does not have the option of graduating to the Red Bull Tag Heuer team. Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo have contracts till the end of the 2017 season. Daniil Kvyat was demoted back to Toro Rosso mid-season, which further affects Sainz's dream.
Next season, Toro Rosso will be using Renault engines; previously they were using Ferrari powered engines. Top officials believe that Toro Rosso will be on par with Red Bull Tag Heuer next season. Carlos Sainz Jr. could prove why he needs to be promoted if he decides to stay for one more year with Toro Rosso.
