2016 Paris Motor Show: BMW Unveils The X2 Concept— In Pics
The BMW Group has showcased its X2 at the 2016 Paris Auto Show. The new compact sedan features a distinctive urban sporting design that stands apart from the other models in the line-up.
"The BMW Concept X2 is a vehicle for active people looking for a combination of enjoyment and practicality," says, Adrian van Hooydonk of BMW Group Design. "The concept displays a new and exciting facet of the BMW brand within the compact segment," he added.
The design of the BMW Concept X2 combines a sporty body language and low-slung proportions of a coupe while incorporating the construction of an X model.
The prototype showcased reveals large wheels, and a two-box design similar to the other X models, a long wheelbase, short overhangs, stretched roofline, and forward-slanting C-pillar that gives the car a sporty, low-to-the-road look.
Sporty design elements dominate the upper section of the car's flanks. The elongated roofline and window graphic create a stretched feel.
The window graphic surrounds and two-piece mirror bases add an extra touch of class. The window graphic is rounded off by a dynamic interpretation of the hallmark BMW Hofmeister kink.
The large, air-channelling roof spoiler on the body lies flat over the blackened rear window, while they further extend from the C-pillars to give the rear its sporty contours.
On the sides of the car, the customary X-model steals the spotlight. With muscular surfaces and large wheel arches form an intriguing contrast.
The front-end of the X2 features a dynamic design. Subtle edges create a front-end creates a sporty appeal for the car. The heavily slanted windscreen extends seamlessly into the panoramic roof.
The double-kidney gille's sit little lower than the headlights, and the central ram-air intake is now lower than the two outer intakes.
Heavily angled bars within the kidney grille creates an undeniable "shark nose" effect while bringing additional depth and sculptural richness to the car.
The flat contours around the headlamp give the car a classical BMW twin circular look. The headlight incorporates laser light technology developed by BMW and it enables very slim light graphics.The rear of the BMW Concept X2 reveals a distinctive exterior design style.
The prominent tapering of the glasshouse along the sides forms a powerful shoulder area, allowing the car to highlight the car's broad, muscular stance.
