BMW India Displays Its Tenth Art Car At India Art Fair 2016
BMW Group India will be showcasing its tenth Art Car at the India Art Fair in New Delhi. The art in motion vehicle by the German luxury carmaker will be on display from January 28 to 31, 2016. It is the very first time that BMW Art Car is being showcased in India.
The tenth BMW Art Car was created by Cesar Manrique in 1990. A BMW 730i model was used to create this Rolling Sculpture. Several artists over the years have interpreted their artistic expression through BMW vehicles and its Art Car project.
The unveiling of the 1990 BMW 730i Art Car was done by Philipp von Sahr, the President of BMW Group India. Also, present at the unveil were Dr. Thomas Girst, Head Cultural Engagement BMW Group India and Neha Kripal, Founding Director of India Art Fair.
The 1990 BMW 730i Art Car by Cesar Manrique is powered by a 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder engine. The BMW Art Car is only a display model and is not meant to be driven at all. BMW's engine develops 188bhp and can attain a top speed of 222 km/h.
The next BMW Art Car will be created and unveiled by 2017 by two artists. American artist John Baldessari and Chinese artist Cao Fei will work on the BMW M6 GT3 model. The BMW Art Car collection can never be complete and will continue to grow as the years pass by.
