BMW Recalls i8 Hybrid Sports Car

By Dennis

BMW has issued a recall for 16 units of its i8 hybrid sports car in the US over an issue with the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). The affected units were produced between May 29, 2015, and June 5, 2015.

The issue with the DSC unit is due to improperly drilled holes which may limit the movement of the DSC unit's pistons. This could hamper the control the DSC unit can exert on the i8's brakes which in turn could lead to accidents occurring.

BMW expects the recall to start on February 10, 2016 and affected i8 owners will have to take their cars to the nearest BMW dealership where the DSC unit will be inspected. The DSC unit will be replaced if necessary.
