German automaker BMW has launched a new variant of its 5 Series luxury sedan in India. The new variant, called the 520d M Sport is priced at Rs. 54 lakh ex-showroom (all-India).
The new 520d M Sport is the third variant of the the 520d in India, and is now available in all BMW showrooms across the nation.
Powering the new 520d M Sport is a 1,995cc, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine that produces 187.4bhp and 400Nm of torque.
The power and torque is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Paddle shifters have been fitted to the steering wheel to allow drivers to control shifts manually.
The BMW 520d will sprint from 0-100km/h in just 7.7 seconds, and will keep on accelerating till it hits its top speed of 233km/h.
The new 520d M Sport comes with three driving modes — ECO PRO, Comfort, and Sport, and BMW has packed in other fuel saving tech like automatic Start/ Stop along with regenerative braking.
Design wise, the new 520d M Sport features adaptive headlights, 'M' badges on the front, and 18-inch, lightweight, 10-spoke alloy wheels. The exhaust tips are done up in dark chrome and the diffuser sports a metallic Dark Shadow paintjob.
Inside, the 520d M Sport is upholstered in leather with contrast stitching and the front seats are Sports seats with electronic adjustment.
The new 520d M Sport features a multi-function instruument display along with a 10.1 inch infotainment display with BMW's i-drive system. The infotainment also comes with GPS navigation, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity.
BMW has fitted the 520d M Sport with layers of safety tech including six air bags, Anti-Lock braking system, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Dynamic Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Side-impact Protection, Electronic vehicle immobiliser, and a crash sensor. Also present is a rear parking camera and park distance control.
The BMW 520d M Sport is locally produced at BMW's manufacturing facility in Chennai.
