Top 10 Selling Cars In February 2016: Renault Kwid Posts Strong Growth
Whenever the 'Top 10 Selling Cars' topic comes, one set of audience would be excited that Maruti Suzuki is the top seller, while another set of audience is vouching for a car like the Renault Kwid to dethrone Maruti.
So how was the car sales industry last month? Who is the top seller? Which position does the Renault Kwid stand in? Let's find out!
10. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
Taking the tenth position is the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, having sold 5,162 units in the month of February 2016. The Ciaz has re-entered the list after a long time and there are plenty yellow board vehicles (Taxis) and self-drive cars by rental companies that have opted for the Ciaz.
9. Hyundai Eon
The Hyundai Eon takes the ninth place, having sold 5,539 units last month. Last year, during the same time, Hyundai sold 7,200 units of the Eon hatchback, which clearly states that there is a better entry-level hatchback out there which consumers prefer.
8. Maruti Suzuki Baleno
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is next, having sold 6,888 units. The Baleno is quite a nice car, if one doesn't look too much at the design details. The car has proved to be a good product by Maruti and it could do much better if the Nexa outlets can handle customers in a better way.
7. Renault Kwid
The Renault Kwid takes the seventh place, and the little SUV-ish looking budget car from Renault is doing really good. The Kwid has all the potential to be the best selling car in India over time. Having been launched recently, Renault has managed to sell 7,544 units in February 2016 alone.
6. Hyundai i20
One of the best looking hatchbacks in India one could say. The Hyundai i20 managed to sell 8,419 units in Feb 2016, which is drop in sales compared to selling 10,264 units during Feb 2015. Apart from looking really sporty, the i20 also packs some amazing features that are not offered with other cars in this segment.
5. Hyundai Grand i10
Taking the fifth place is the Hyundai Grand i10, which is the first car on the list that has seen some sort of growth compared to last year. During Feb 2016, Hyundai sold 8,898 units, compared to selling 8,687 units during Feb 2015.
4. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
Coming in at number four is the Maruti Wagon R, having sold 14,209 units in Feb 2016. The Wagon R too has seen a dip in sales, since in Feb 2015, Maruti Suzuki sold 14,315 units. The Wagon R has been around for a while now and has received several updated.
3. Maruti Suzuki Swift
The Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback takes the third place, having sold 15,475 units. After the Eon, the Swift is the second most affected car in terms of sales drop since in Feb 2015, Maruti sold 19,546 units. This is an indication that there is a better alternative to the Swift in the Indian market, or people are moving away from this category (which is unlikely).
2. Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire
The second best selling car in Feb 2016 was the Swift Dzire compact sedan. The ‘Swift with a boot' recorded sales figures of 17,410 units in Feb 2015 and has had a growth in sales since last Feb, when Maruti sold 17,085 units of the Dzire.
1. Maruti Suzuki Alto
The Maruti Suzuki Alto was the best selling car in Feb, having sold 21,286 units. Sales numbers have dropped compared to Feb 2015 and the reason could be because of another carmaker who is slowly snatching customers away from Maruti, and is offering a better product.
