Bentley Mulsanne Facelift Revealed Ahead Of Geneva Debut

Bentley has unveiled the facelifted Mulsanne luxury limousine range including a brand new extended wheelbase version that increases legroom at the back by 10 inches. The facelifted Mulsanne range will make its official debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

Design Changes

The biggest changes across the Mulsanne range is the revised polished stainless steel front grille which is 80mm wider than the one found on the current Mulsanne and sees multiple vertical slats run across.

The grille is flanked by Bentley's signature dual headlights on each side. All 4 headlights are which are full LED units.

The front bumper is a single piece unit and the bonnet has been redesigned as well. The lower grille is done up in chrome as are the B shaped air intakes.

The rear lights have been redesigned as well. They now have detail work in the form of a 'B' which give them a rather distinct look when they come on.

Inside the new Mulsanne features the usual swathes of wood, chrome and leather as well as optional aluminium and stone veneer. The leather is available in 24 different colours and there are numerous stitching options, seatbelt and rug choices, all of it available in colors that either match or contrast.

Also new are the 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system which is augmented by a 60GB SSD drive. There are also 10.2-inch Android tablets that retract into the seatbacks of the front seats that as well which can be used to make video calls.

Engine & Gearbox

Nothing has changed under the hood as Bentley has retained the Edwardian 6.75-litre V8 that produces 505bhp & 1,020Nm of torque in the normal Mulsanne and 530bhp & 1,100Nm of torque in the Mulsanne Speed. This power and torque is sent to the rear wheels by an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox.

The Mulsanne hits 100km/h in 5.1 seconds and keeps on going till it hits 296km/h.The Mulsanne speed hits 100km/h even faster from standstill — just 4.8 seconds and maxxes out at 306km/h.


Pricing, Availability & Rivals

The facelifted Mulsanne will go on sale after its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Prices for the new Mulsanne range have not been revealed. The new Mulsanne will go head to head against the Rolls-Royce Phantom.
