India Made Maruti Suzuki Baleno And Mahindra e2o Nominated For Next Green Car Awards UK
Two made in India cars, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Mahindra e20 have been nominated for the 2016 Next Green Car Awards UK.
Made in India cars have once again made it to international grounds. This time it's the 2016 Next Green Car Awards UK. Yes, the nominations are out for this award and two India-made cars have appeared on this list.
Mahindra's electric car, the e2o has been nominated for the 2016 City Car category and Maruti Suzuki Baleno is nominated in the 2016 Supermini criteria.
There is total of ten different categories in which the awards are presented. 40 different car models across 23 manufacturers have been nominated for the awards.
The nomination list was revealed on 17th of November and the winner will be announced on December 1, 2016.
Mahindra e20 is nominated in the 2016 City Car category. To be eligible for this award the car must be commercially available. NGC has joined hand with Emission Analytics to ensure the best rating based on the data.
The Mahindra e20 is a zero-emission electric car powered by 48V Lithium-ion battery. The EV hatchback is a four seater car. It produces 25.4bhp and 53.9Nm of torque. Other nominations in this category are Ford Ka+, Volkswagen e-up and Smart ForTwo Cabrio.
Coming to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, recently this hot hatch won the Irish Small Car of the Year 2017 and the Scottish ‘Small Car of the Year' award. The car is also exported to various global markets.
The Baleno is sold with two engine options - 1-litre Boosterjet engine and 1.2-litre Dualjet SHVS engine. The other cars nominated in this category are - Renault Zoe Z.E. 40, BMW i3 94Ah and Renault Clio.
