This Is One Car The Indian Police Can Dream Of — The Aussie Cops Get The Ultimate Driving Machine!
The Australian police have taken delivery of a BMW i8, not to chase offenders, but to establish a strong relationship with locals.
When an auto enthusiast is reminded of Dubai, he would immediately connect with the performance car fleet owned by the Dubai police. Now, Australia is in hot pursuit.
Soon after adding an Audi S7 Sportback to the police fleet, the Australian police have now taken ownership of a BMW i8. The hybrid sports car will be used by the Rose Bay Local Area Command.
Like the Audi S7 Sportback, the BMW i8 will not be blaring its sirens and doing high speed pursuits, but will rather be used for building stronger relationships between the locals and the police force.
But being a citizen friendly car does not mean that it will miss out on the police livery and the sirens. The car features blue and white chequered livery, along with bright yellow highlights, police decals, and the force's emblem on the roof.
According to Superintendent Brad Hodde, "My crime management unit will use the car to go along to open days and events. It provides a tool to break down barriers between police and the community."
"It enables the community to come up and start talking about the car. That conversation then leads to them opening up and they find out that we're not such bad people after all."
