Audi Unveils 6.36-Metre Long, Six-Door A8 L Extended
Audi has created a one-off, longer, six-door variant of its A8 luxury limousine called the A8 L Extended.
The Audi A8 L Extended is 1.09 metres longer than the 'normal' A8 L at 6.36 metres (the A8 L is 5.27 metres long). The one-off limo's wheelbase has been extended by the same 1.09 metres and is now 4.22 meters long.
To ensure that the people inside don't feel claustrophobic, Audi has added a 2.40-meter long panel of glass into the roof to bring more light into the limo.
Inside, there are six seats, all of which face forward, which is quite unusual in a limo. The second and third row have power adjustable seats in beige Valcona leather.
The occupants of the third row also have an exclusive entertainment display and refrigerated storage box all to themselves.
Under the hood of the A8 L Extended sits a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 that produces 306bhp and 440Nm of torque.
0-100km/h takes 7.1 seconds and the ginormous limo will keep on accelerating till it hits the electronic speed limiter at 250km/h.
To ensure that the 2.41 ton limo comes to a halt in time, Audi has fitted the braking system from the S8 in the A8 L Extended.
The A8 L Extended is currently a one-off which if we are to believe reports from Norway's autofil.no was commissioned for the Norwegian king, Harald V, to celebrate the king's Silver Jubilee as the ruler of Norway.
