2017 Audi A3 Gets New Tech And New 1-litre Engine
Ingolstad based German luxury carmaker Audi has unveiled the new 2017 A3. The facelifted Audi A3 which is available in hatchback, sportback, saloon and cabriolet guises will go on sale in May.
The biggest change under the hood of the A3 is the addition of a new 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 114bhp and 140Nm of peak torque.
The next petrol powerplant is a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine with 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. This engine can also shut down two of its cylinder for better mileage.
At the top of the petrol mountain is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine delivering 188bhp and 320Nm of torque.
The diesel range starts with a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine with 109bhp and goes all the way up to 2.0-litre turbo engine.
The A3 e-tron hybrid hasn't changed much except that the electric motor can now keep on going for 48 kilometers without any need for assistance from the 1.4-litre engine.
The go-faster version of the A3, the S3, now extracts 9bhp and 20Nm of torque more from its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The retuned engine produces 306bhp and 400Nm of torque.
Design wise, the facelifted A3 features sleeker headlamps, a wider grille and tailgate.
Inside, customers can now opt for Audi's Virtual Cockpit set-up which features a 12.3-inch TFT display that replaces the dials and the infotainment system.
