Audi To Enter All-Electric Racing Series As A Factory Squad
Audi will enter the all-electric racing series, FIA Formula E Championship, as a factory team in 2017/18, fourth season of the series. Audi stated that, in collaboration with ABT Schaeffler, Audi plans to enter as a factory team in the electric single seater series.
Audi made this move after ABT completed two seasons in FIA Formula E Championship, and in both the seasons, team ABT narrowly missed out on winning the title. ABT had technical involvement with Audi to only some extent. But this step from Audi is a long-term factory approach.
Team ABT will immediately benefited from Audi's financial and technical support. Before the full fledged commitment in coming fourth season.
Wolfgang Ullrich, Head of Audi Motorsport, said that, Audi wants to emulate the success that they have achieved in other forms of motorsport. This will be the first single seater campaign for the German car maker.
