The new Q5 will replace the ageing current-gen model which has been in production for seven years now.
The teaser image, shows off the new design for the tail lamps of the new Q5 which hints at a more evolutionary than revolutionary design change for the new Q5. The new SUV is expected to borrow from the design changes seen on the Q7 and Q2 SUVs.
The new Audi Q5 will sit on the Volkswagen Group's MLB platform which is expected to help the new SUV cut around 100 kilograms of weight compared to the current Q5.
The four-wheel-drive variants of the Q5 will also be fitted with the latest Quattro system which only sends power to the front wheels when the SUV is being driven around normally to save fuel.
The engine lineup is expected to be the usual mix of four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines seen under the hood of the A4. The more powerful six-cylinder engines will also be seen under the hood of the new SQ5 SUV.
A plug-in hybrid variant is also expected in the future along with the successor to the SQ5 performance variant. A hardcore RS Q5 variant is also expected to appear next year.
The new Q5 will feature the latest version of Audi's navigation system, along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility as well.
