Audi Q8 E-Tron Concept Teased — Looks Menacing
The production spec Audi Q8 will take on the likes of the Mercedes GLE Coupe and BMW X6.
The first glimpses of the Audi A8 E-tron concept which is set to debut at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show have revealed a menacing looking concept SUV that will run on electric power alone.
The first teaser images of the upcoming electric Audi SUV show off the original renderings of the SUV and were published in German site Welt who sat down with Audi chief designer Marc Lichte, who also showed off a tiny part of the SUV's front end as it lay under covers awaiting its day in the spotlight
The front end of the new Audi Q8 is as menacing as they come with the German carmaker's corporate grille now featuring six twin chrome vertical fins that compliment the Audi badge.
The grille itself has a chrome border and features a black cladding that separates it from Audi's rather distinctive Laser headlights. Also, the big front bumper features the word e-tron hinting at the powerplant for the SUV.
The side profile of the new Audi Q8 SUV looks sharp and the roof line is significantly more raked compared to the Q7 on which the production variant will be based when it comes out in 2019.
The new Audi Q8 will sit alongside the upcoming A8 luxury sedan (due out Summer 2017) at the top of Audi's new range of vehicles which will focus more on electrification as part of the Volkswagen Group's push into towards zero emission cars following the crippling scandal that was Diesel Gate.
The Q8 is also expected to feature Audi's upcoming fully autonomous driving systems which will make their debut in the new A8 along with other Artificial Intelligence features that will be baked into the flagship Audi luxury sedan.
