Audi Obtains The Q2 And Q4 Names From Fiat Chrysler Automotive
Audi has obtained the right to use the Q2 and Q4 names for its upcoming models, while Fiat Chrysler (FCA), who used to own them will not have any future models with those alphanumeric combinations.
The deal between Audi and FCA was confirmed by Rupert Stadler, Audi's CEO at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. The deal was agreed without any financial compensation.
FCA had retained its right to use the Q2 name for its differential technology. The Q4 badge is currently found on four-wheel-drive Maserati models.
Audi CEO said that, even though the counterparts at FCA pointed out that the Q2 and Q4 trademarks were not for sale, the two companies eventually negotiated an unspecified trade. Both the parties mentioned the deal did not include a financial part.
