Aston Martin And Red Bull Racing To Build Next Gen Hypercar
Aston Martin have teamed up with Formula 1 racing team Red Bull Racing to build the next generation Aston Martin hypercar.
The new hypercar codenamed the 'AM-RB 001' will be a petrol-electric hybrid that is expected to pair up Aston Martin's new 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 and hybrid technology and carbon fibre tech from Red Bull.
The AM-RB 001 will see Red Bull Racing's legendary Chief Technical Officer, Adrian Newey, widely noted as the most successful Formula One designer of all time, collaborate with Aston Martin's Chief Designer Marek Reichman to create a car that Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner has called 'the ultimate of all road cars.'
Talking about his new venture Adrian Newey said, "From the age of six I have had two goals in life - to be involved in the design of racing cars, and to be involved in the design of a super car. Whilst the former ambition went on to form my career to date, the latter has always bubbled away, resulting in countless sketches and doodles over the years."
"The opportunity to now develop and realise those ideas whilst working with Marek and his colleagues from Aston Martin is tremendously exciting. It allows us to translate the technology we have developed in F1 into a new arena."
Autocar UK claims that only 99 examples of the AM-RB 001 will be made by Aston Martin's bespoke 'Q' division and first refusal will be given to the 20 owners of the Aston Martin Vulkan.
