Ashok Leyland Launches First School Bus With Frontal Crash Protection
Ashok Leyland, one of India's leading commercial vehicle manufacturer has launched the new 'Sunshine' school bus in Vijayawada. The Ashok Leyland Sunshine is the only school bus in India to have a roll over compliant design and frontal crash protection.
The Ashok Leyland Sunshine was first showcased during the 2016 Auto Expo, and it boasted a number of unique features. The Sunshine comes with anti-bacterial interiors, anti-skid flooring, fire retardant interiors, i- ALERT system for real time tracking, and a front collision avoidance system called '6th Sense'.
Along with the above mentioned features, the Ashok Leyland Sunshine also comes with semi-integral chassis construction, which gives the bus the lowest fixed entry and a low centre of gravity for a stable journey. Suspension duties are taken care of by parabolic suspension, that result in a smooth ride. The Sunshine also has emergency exit doors and door alarms.
The Ashok Leyland Sunshine comes in two variants, which is either as a 40 seater configuration or as a 50 seater.
Commenting about the launch, Vinod K. Dasari, the Managing Director of Ashok Leyland said, "Sunshine is very special to us and it will set new benchmarks in the school transport sector. Sunshine reflects the world of children and is a combination of artistically designed interiors along with state-of-the-art safety features."
"It is shaped by technology, know-how and expertise of global standards, durability, design and safety features that will transform the daily commute of children into an experience."
