Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) Hyundai Cars Will Be A Threat To Maruti Suzuki
Hyundai is planning to introduce AMT models to the Indian market and it will be a threat to the market leader Maruti Suzuki.
Maruti Suzuki is the dominant player in the Indian automobile market. It has maintained the top spot in terms of sales volume since a year now. Hyundai Motor is the only manufacturer which came close to competition with the Japanese India subsidiary.
With the introduction of the AMT models, Maruti Suzuki recorded an impressive sales figures in the country as the popularity of the AMT grew. But Hyundai lacked in this segment as it does not offer any AMT models.
But according to reports Hyundai is planning to launch the AMT cars in the Indian market in order boost its sales volume. The AMT cars will be produced at firm's Tamil Nadu production facility.
With the launch of Hyundai AMT cars, it is expected that Maruti Suzuki may lose considerable share to Hyundai every month. Currently, Hyundai only offers automatic gearbox models such as Grand i10, Elantra and Verna.
On the other hand Maruti Suzuki offers AMT cars such as the Celerio, Alto K10, Swift Dzire and Wagon R. So, if the Hyundai fields its AMT models in the Indian market, then we can expect a dent in the Maruti Suzuki's sales figures.
Hyundai has planned to launch a compact SUV in India and the company also wants to offer AMT variants on its lower end models such as Eon, Xcent and the much awaited Santro which will be relaunched in India.
The AMT technology will be manufactured locally in India, so it is expected that Hyundai will price the models competitively especially to counter its rival Maruti Suzuki.
