Spy Pics: 2016 Toyota Fortuner Spotted Testing; India Launch On The Cards
Finally, the all-new Toyota Fortuner has been spotted testing for the first time on Indian Roads. The test mule that has been spotted is believed to be the one unit that Toyota had imported for R&D purposes in October last year. The all-new Fortuner was initially launched in the Thailand market last year.
The 2016 Toyota Fortuner will include features such as a chrome grille, projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
In the international market, the Fortuner is offered in the following engines: a 2.4-litre and a 2.8-litre diesel, and a 2.7-litre petrol engine.
In India, the Fortuner will most likely get only the diesel engines like the ones on the Innova Crysta. The 2.4-litre engine produces 148bhp and 400Nm of peak torque while the 2.8-litre engine generates 175bhp and 450Nm of torque. Toyota is likely to offer the 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox for the new Fortuner.
Due to the changing emission norms in India, Toyota had earlier announced the cease of further investments in India.
But since the new spy shots have emerged, Toyota India appears to be still working on the 2016 Fortuner for the Indian Market.
