Next-Generation Toyota Corolla Could Get BMW Engines
BMW and Toyota is likely to strengthen its partnership as the top of the line 2018 Corolla will be powered by BMW engines.
The joint venture between BMW and Toyota is likely to expand in the near future. As reports suggest that the next-generation Toyota Corolla could get BMW engines.
The BMW engines will be offered in the top of the line variant of the next-gen Corolla. The 2018 Corolla will be based on Toyota's TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform.
The engine options for the 2018 Toyota Corolla include a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine, 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, 1.5-litre hybrid and 1.8-litre VVT-i engine.
Although it is not revealed that which BMW engine will be used in the next-gen Corolla, it is expected that a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine or a 2-litre four-cylinder engine will be employed.
The 2018 Corolla is not the first Toyota vehicle to be powered by BMW engine, the Verso MPV and the new Avensis sedan runs on the BWM derived powertrain.
Apart from this deal, BMW and Toyota are working on the new Toyota Supra and BMW Z4 Roadster. Both the cars will sit on a brand new chassis built with lightweight materials such as carbon fibre and aluminium.
