Honda Will Be Locally Assembling 2017 CR-V In India
An all-new Honda CR-V will be introduced globally by 2016-end. India, however, will receive the premium SUV by early to mid 2017. Now reports suggest that the next-generation Honda CR-V will be locally assembled for the Indian market.
The Japanese-based automobile manufacturer is aiming at 65 percent localisation. Honda Cars India could reduce the price significantly if the CR-V is locally assembled in India. At a later stage they will try to up its localisation amount and thus achieve compete manufacturing.
A wide range of engine options will be available in the all-new CR-V. India could get a new diesel motor that could attract more buyers. The petrol powered Honda CR-V will also be offered in India, however, the displacement and performance figures will be revealed at a time closer to launch.
In terms of design, Honda will borrow cues from their recently launched models. Headlights and tail lamps could be similar to that seen on the current-gen Civic. Unfortunately from the side profile we do not expect too many changes on the Honda CR-V.
For the very first time Honda will be providing its new CR-V with third row seating. The Japanese manufacturer will be offering third row seating only in select markets, India is likely to get this option. Stay tuned for more updates from Honda and its upcoming launches.
