Skoda Is Expected To Launch The New 2016 Rapid During This Festive Season

Skoda Auto has not made any significant change to its Rapid since its launch in India, Skoda might launch the 2016 Rapid later this year and give the much-needed boost to its sales.

Reports state Skoda is working on the facelift of Rapid and is expected to be fresher with cleaner and sharper lines, revised interiors and probably a tweak in its engine spec.

There have been many images of the test mule doing the rounds in India and the launch looks imminent any time this year; though there has been no official confirmation from the Czech automobile manufacturer.

The UK spec Skoda Rapid design language is followed by the Octavia and the Superb and the new Rapid might follow the same path. India bound new Rapid might get the same treatment in terms of design.

A whole lot of changes is expected, particularly on the exterior. At the front profile, there is new grille, sharper headlamps, new bumper design, and a new bonnet. DRLs will be seen on the new 2016 Rapid and LED taillamps with new alloy wheel design.

On the interior, there will be new fabric and colour tones to the dashboard and the whole of the interior. Also, the new Rapid will get the touch-screen infotainment and probably re-worked dashboard and controls.

As for the power unit, you can expect a 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine and will be offered in the 5-speed manual gearbox and 6-speed automatic for the petrol and the diesel could get the 7-speed DSG transmission box.

Prices for the new 2016 Skoda Rapid could range between Rs. 8 to 12 lakh and will compete with the Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, and the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
