Foxy Premier League Winners Leicester Get Blue Bavarian Gifts From The Boss
Leicester City journey to becoming the English Premier League champions last season was the perfect underdog story. From almost getting relegated the previous season, to becoming the champions of England, the Fantastic Foxes from Leicester are a team that will be remembered for all time.
And now that story has become a whole lot sweeter for the players as each of them now have a 'Protonic Blue' BMW i8 to call their own. The 'Protonic Blue' paint job also matches the the Leicester City home kit's colour scheme.
The hybrid i8 sports cars are a gift from a very grateful owner of the club, Thai businessman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who had promised them all an electric car each. However, instead of gifting them with the Mercedes B-Class he had promised, Srivaddhanaprabha raised the bar, by gifting the madcap BMW hybrid sports cars instead.
The 19 cars which each cost £105,000 (Rs. 91.06 lakhs) were gifted to all the first team player who took part in the title-winning season that took everyone by surprise.
The BMW i8 powered by an electric motor which works in tandem with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine to produce 358bhp and 570Nm of torque. The hybrid sports car will sprint from 0–100km/h in 4.4 seconds and will hit a top speed of 250km/h while returning a claimed mileage of 47.6km/l.
