ZF TRW High End Video Camera For Cars Production Starts
ZF TRW, a part of ZF Friedrichshafen, has started production of its third generation high video camera, the S-Cam3, for four major global vehicle platforms.
This camera will be available in Europe, North America and Asia for compact C and D segment, sedans, and crossover by the end of this year.
Being the third generation camera, it will have functions that will include traffic light detection, large animal and general object detection, and automatic emergency braking for pedestrians at night.
Andy Whydell, the Director for product planning at ZF TRW said, "The launch of our S-Cam3 marks an important milestone in making active safety technology accessible to the mass market."
"Cameras are widely recognized for their safety benefits, and the SCam3 is now ASIL-B rated for improved functional safety performance."
The company also announced that the fourth generation S-Cam4 family, that will feature Mobileye's Eye Q4 chip, will be launched around the year 2018, which has been designed to meet the needs of automated and autonomous driving functions.
Whydell added saying, "TRW has been developing driver assist systems for many decades and is recognized as a leader in camera and radar systems alike."
"We offer scalable and affordable solutions for our customers across the globe to help them meet new legislative requirements and achieve maximum NCAP ratings."
