Volvo XC90 India Launch Expected By September This Year
Swedish automobile manufacturer, Volvo has introduced its XC90 SUV in several markets. This model will be coming to India as well and is expected around September, 2015.
The manufacturer has improved styling and design of this SUV, making it more appealing to buyers. Volvo has built its XC90 on their SPA platform, which will also be used for future models.
Volvo will offer its new XC90 in three engine options:
- AWD, D5 diesel engine, which produces 225 horsepower.
- AWD, T6 petrol engine, which generates 320 horsepower.
- AWD, T8 Twin Engine petrol plug-in hybrid produces 400 horsepower.
This is the second generation of XC90 SUV and they plan to offer it in several markets. Volvo had first introduced this model across the globe 12 years ago.
Dr Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President, Research and Development of Volvo Car Group, commented, "You get the in-command feel, generous interior space and flexible capability combined with the agility and smooth comfort of a much smaller and lower car."
He further added, "The adrenaline rush that is key to true driving pleasure is delivered by power trains that offer an unrivalled combination of power and clean operation. And since the XC90 carries the Volvo badge, world-class safety is standard."
The luxury SUV market is growing constantly in India. Volvo's XC90 will have to compete against Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes ML Class, Land Rover Discovery Sport and soon to be launched Nissan Patrol.
