German automobile manufacturer, Volkswagen has opted to launch its Vento Cup Championship for 2015. In the previous years VW offered Polo hatchback for competition. This year they have decided to up the ante with more powerful and safer Vento sedan.
Registration for Volkswagen Vento Cup has begun and enthusiasts can register by clicking this link. The first round of selections has been announced and it will be held in Pune. Selection commences on 14th to 15th of February, 2015 at Indy Karting Track, Kharadi, Pune.
Only 24 participants will be selected for the 2015 Vento Cup Championship. This one make racing series is part of the 18th JK Tyre Racing Championship. It s an excellent platform for young talent to improve their skills and showcase their talent.
There will be a second round of selection, which is scheduled for February 28th and March 1st, 2015. Post both these selections the selected drivers will have an opportunity to win the inaugural Volkswagen Vento Cup Championship.
The Vento Cup race cars will sport a 1.4-litre TSI engine. It will produce 177.46 horsepower, along with 260 Nm of peak torque output. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed DSG transmission. It will also feature atoll-cage, racing seat, fire extinguisher and 6-point harness.
Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, expressed, "With the Vento Cup, we are moving to a car which will have improved dynamics allowing the drivers to have a wider learning scope. The different body style will also add to different setup of the car and will vary its speeds as compared to its predecessor."
