Volkswagen will be launching the sportiest Polo in India by mid-2016. The Polo GTI will be introduced in the Indian market by mid-2016. Testing of the Polo GTI around Volkswagen's facility in Chakan, Pune has commenced prior to it imminent launch in the country.
Powering the Volkswagen Polo GTI will be a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine. Engineers have tuned this engine to produce 189.30bhp, along with 320Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and no manual transmission will be offered in India.
Volkswagen claims their Polo GTI will return fuel efficiency figures of 8 .85km/l, depending on one's driving style. The performance hatchback can attain a top speed of 236km/h, and sprint from 0 to 100km/h in a matter of 6.7 seconds.
In terms of design, the Volkswagen Polo GTI will look slightly different from Polo GT that is on offer in the country now. The Polo GTI will sport a wider body kit, aerodynamic front bumper, 17-inch alloy wheels, front grille with red accent, GTI badging, chrome dual exhaust pipes, spoiler, and a diffuser.
