Volkswagen Polo GTI Commences India Test With 1.8-litre Engine

Volkswagen introduced their Polo GTI performance hatchback in India a while ago. They have recently provided the model with an update, which was purely cosmetic and not mechanical.

Previously the German manufacturer had no competition in Indian market. Now Abarth will be making its Indian debut with 595 Competizione and will also be introducing Punto and Avventura versions.

Now Volkswagen India is upping their ante by introducing its Polo GTI with a 1.8-litre engine. German manufacturer has imported a single model and Indian road tests have begun.

Here are the technical specifications of VW Polo GTI:

• Engine: 1.8-litre four cylinder, TSI petrol
• Horsepower: 190
• Torque: 320 Nm
• Gearbox: 7-speed DSG or 6-speed manual transmission

When launched in India the VW Polo GTI with 1.8-litre engine will sport their latest design. It will be very difficult to differentiate between all models and minor cosmetic differences will be noticed.
