VW Could Be Fined Rs 32 Crore Over Emissions Scandal

The Indian Government could impose a fine of Rs. 32 Crore on the Volkswagen Group for fitting emission-cheating software and devices in its cars sold in India according to a report in the Economic Times.
A senior government told the economic times that the government could impose the fine on VW based on section 182 A of Motor Vehicles Act which states that if "a company was selling cars fitted with substandard quality devices, it could face a penalty of Rs. 1,000 per car.
