Volkswagen Caught Cheating In French Emission Tests
French Environment minister Segolene Royal announced on Friday that cars from the Volkswagen group have been caught flouting French emission laws after the French Government conducted tested vehicles from all manufacturers.
The French government tested 10 vehicles from all manufacturers after VW cars were caught in an emissions scandal in September. Royal while talking to France Info Radio stated that Nitrogen Oxide emission levels from VW group cars were five times over the acceptable levels.
Other manufacturers though can breathe a sigh of relief though. Royal stated that while levels were above the legal limit, they were still in line with differences to be expected between lab and real-life tests.
France is working on a comprehensive certified testing model which will be ready by the end of the month. The model will then be used to test around 100 models of vehicles sold in the country.
