Volkswagen CEO Martin WinterKorn Resigns
Volkswagen CEO, Martin Winterkorn has resigned. The German carmakers boss said that he was shocked by the events going on for the past few days. He was also stunned at the scale of misconduct that was even possible by the Volkswagen group.
He said that the company needs a fresh start and he will make way for it by stepping down.
The carmaker had installed a software that would bypass emission tests conducted in their cars, making it look cleaner. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) accused VW of installing this illegal software to cheat emission tests in diesel cars.
Volkswagens affected vehicles are not just limited to the United States, but other international markets as well. A total of 11 million diesel cars are affected worldwide.
The cars affected include the Audi range as well.
