Uber To Have 50,000 Women Employees By 2020 In India
Uber has made its intentions clear that they will not exit the Indian market. They confirmed this promising that they will have 50,000 women employees in India by 2020. They will be partnering with iCare Life to train women for their platform.
Both men and women can drive vehicles, however, the taxi industry is predominantly consists of men. Uber wants to break conventional thinking and will train women to provide a safe and premium quality of taxi service.
Uber currently is trying to change its image in the mind of Indians after the rape incident that took place in North India. They will be introducing women cab drivers in the capital of India within the upcoming days after their training with iCare is done.
The app-based taxi service currently is present in 11 cities of India and are planning to grow constantly. Their business module is different and they believe all of their drivers are partners and thus, they do not force them to work.
Uber was earlier worried if they would be able to introduce their service for women by women. The Indian Government had laid a ban on them, which did not allow them to run on Indian roads. After certain procedures and fines the Government gave permission to work in India.
The app-based taxi service has taken help of iCare Life to train women. Content is provided in six different languages and women can learn it at their own pace through tablet computers. They then have to pass various levels to receive the desired certification to work with Uber.
