Uber India Appoint Amit Jain As New President
Uber, the online taxi hailing company has been in the news for a long time now and mostly for the bad. It is now back in the news again, but for a good reason.
The company has now appointed Amit Jain as President and head for its operations in India, which has been a newly created position.
Amit Jain was earlier the President of Rent.com, a property portal in the US. Jain also is a IIT-Delhi graduate.
Uber was on the look out for this particular position as country head for the past few months and now having found one, all the 11 city heads will report to Jain from now.
Uber, the San Francisco based company is facing a stiff competition from Ola, the home grown online cab aggregator, based in Mumbai and founded in Bangalore.
Uber has been in the news mainly because of the fact that one of the drivers working for Uber was accused of raping a woman in Delhi, which led to services being banned.
