Takata Airbag Recall: Toyota Expand Due To Safety Concern
Toyota has announced that it has extended its recall of vehicles that are fitted with the faulty Takata airbag inflators in the US.
The company will recall approximately 160,000 RAV4 sport utility vehicles that were made between the year 2004 and 2005.
Dino Triantafyllos, the Chief Quality Officer at Toyota Motor North America says, "Toyota's focus remains on the safety and security of our customers, and we will continue to respond promptly to new developments so we can resolve issues for them as quickly, conveniently and safely as possible."
There are multiple investigations taking place to find out the root cause of the potential for inflator rupture. During a crash, these can potentially kill a person.
Customers with affected vehicles will be notified via email and the inflator will be changed free of cost with a newly manufactured one.
