Toyota India To Provide ABS As Standard Equipment Across Its Vehicles

Written By:

Toyota India has decided to improve safety equipment in their vehicles from their base models upwards. They plan to standardise Anti-lock Braking System or ABS across the range.

Previously the Japanese manufacturer had opted to provide airbags in all of their Indian made vehicles.

Toyota is one of the only four-wheeler brands to offer ABS and airbags as standard equipment across its vehicles. The Indian Government plans to make ABS a compulsory safety regulation by 2017.

The Japanese manufacturer wants to be ahead of its competitors and is the very first to offer ABS as standard safety equipment. Volkswagen India offers airbags starting from their base variant.

Indian buyers have recently become aware of safety features that can potentially save their lives. Previously they did not mind skipping safety features, as they would save a few bucks.

Luxury cars from Toyota come fitted with several safety equipment as standard. It is usually the Indian made vehicles that skip this feature and are lower priced.

Toyota currently offers a wide range of products in India. These include Etios Liva, Etios Cross, Etios, Corolla Altis, Camry, Prius, Innova, Fortuner, LC Prado and LC200. All of which will be fitted with ABS confirm the Japanese manufacturer.
