Toyota To Provide 55 Camry Hybrids For The 3rd India Africa Forum Summit
Toyota will be providing 55 Toyota Camry Hybrids for the 3rd India Africa Forum Summit. These vehicles will be used to ferry leaders and diplomats from African Nations. The India Africa Forum Summit is being held from 26th to 29th of October 2015 in New Delhi.
The Toyota Camry hybrid will be the very first luxury-hybrid car to chauffeur leaders and diplomats of African Nations. The order for 55 Camry hybrids has been placed by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Toyota has sold more than 8 million hybrid vehicles globally, and India is the 9th country to manufacture the Camry hybrid globally.
The all-new Camry Hybrid was launched in India for Rs. 32 lakh on April 2015, and is the first ever locally manufactured hybrid vehicle. The Camry Hybrid is also the first hybrid vehicle to qualify for the incentive provided by the Government under its Faster Adoption & Manufacturing of Electric cars (FAME).
Powering the Toyota Camry hybrid is a 2.5-litre petrol engine. The petrol engine produces 158bhp and 213Nm of torque, and the electric motor generates 140bhp and 270NM of torque, which bumps the total output to 202bhp, simply because the petrol engine and hybrid motor produces their power at different points.
In terms of safety, Toyota equips the Camry hybrid with seven airbags, vehicle stability control, hill start assist control, Electronically Controlled Brake (ECB), lane change indicator, speed sensing auto lock, rear camera, clearance with back sonar, ABS with EBD, and brake assist.
N. Raja, Sr. V.P. & Director, Sales & Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), India, expressed, the Toyota Chairman,Takeshi Uchiyamada had met with the Prime Minister of India during September 2015, and this meet initiated talks of providing eco-friendly vehicles for the India Africa Summit.
He further added, hybrid vehicles can only have a positive impact if more individuals opt for them. The Toyota Camry hybrid is locally manufactured in India, thus confirming its stand on providing clean and environment-friendly vehicles in the country as well as across the globe.
