June 2015: Top 10 Selling Utility Vehicles

The utility vehicle segment in India is a fast growing market. Carmakers have either introduced new models or have updated existing models to keep up with competition.

Every manufacturer is trying to beat the best seller in this segment, but the top selling utility vehicle in India seems unshakable, which we will go into detail in a little.

Majority of the models, including the best selling vehicle in this segment has seen drop in sales, while newly launched vehicles have taken respectable positions in this list.

So let's take a look at top 10 selling utility vehicles in June 2015, compared to June 2014:

10. Toyota Fortuner:

Barely making it to the list the Toyota Fortuner, having sold 1,390 units. Last year during the same time, the Fortuner was in the 9th position, having sold 1,434 units. This SUV from the Japanese carmaker will soon be available in India with a facelift, which is much needed.

Coming in at number 9 is a vehicle that sold 1,641 units even before it was launched! Available with a choice of two diesel and one petrol variant, the Creta could move up this ladder very soon.

8. Renault Lodgy:

Taking the eighth spot is another newly launched product-the Renault Lodgy. Having sold 1,708 units already, it could spark the same magic as the Duster created in India. It could only be a matter of time.

Having sold 2,310 units, the Duster takes the seventh spot, having sold more than the Lodgy. Duster sales has seen a major drop and it is time the SUV gets some upgrades and that will not be long since the company has planned to offer an AMT variant that will be available in India soon.

6. Mahindra XUV 500:

The XUV 500 takes the sixth spot, having sold 3,326 units, which is an increase in sales compared to last year. The facelifted version that was recently launched has definitely helped with vehicle sales.

5. Ford EcoSport:

At number five comes Ford's best seller, the EcoSport. This compact SUV has seen drop in sales over the last year, mainly due to the intense competition and it has slid down two spots. Ford has managed to sell 3,644 units.

4. Mahindra Scorpio:

Although moving up a spot in the ladder, the Scorpio has also seen drop in sales compared to last June. Having sold 3,666 units, the Mahindra Scorpio takes the 4th place, two places ahead of the XUV 500.

Having been the second best selling utility vehicle last June, the Innova has lost numbers in terms of sales. It is facing stiff competition in this segment from the Honda Mobilio, Ertiga and the Lodgy. The Innova sold 4,144 units.

2. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga:

The second most selling utility vehicle in India during June was the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, having sold 5,395 units. It has managed to move up the ladder compared to last year, when it was in the 4th position, having sold 4,875 units.

1. Mahindra Bolero:

1. Mahindra Bolero:

The Mahindra Bolero has been on the top of this list for a very long time, in spite of sales dropping by almost 30 percent. Mahindra managed to sell 6,093 units this June, compared to 7,909 units it sold last June.
