Top 10 Selling Cars In May 2015
It's time again to look at how the auto industry did this past month. Some models held their position from the month before while some have disappeared from the list. One prominent brand that failed to make it to the top 10 list last month is the Honda Amaze.
Looking at the brighter side, there have been new entrances as well. So now, let's take a look at top 10 selling cars in May 2015:
10. Hyundai Xcent:
At number 10 is the Hyundai Xcent, having sold 4871 units in May. The compact sedan from Hyundai made it on the list by a whisker, although it had recorded higher sales before.
9. Hyundai Eon:
At number 9 is the Eon, again made by the South Korean carmaker. The Eon registered a sales of 6449 units during May and takes the spot just ahead of the Xcent.
8. Maruti Celerio:
Having held the title as the most affordable car with an AMT sometime ago till it was snatched away by the Tata Nano, the Celerio takes the eighth spot having sold 6653 units. Now, the Celerio takes another title of the most fuel efficient car with the diesel variant, that is yet to be launched.
7. Honda City:
The only Honda on the list. The city has proved to be a very good car and has seen sales only going up in numbers. In May, Honda sold 7562 units and takes the 7th spot.
6. Elite i20:
Number 6 is taken by another Hyundai—the Elite i20. Hyundai registered 8469 units in May.
5. Grand i10:
Number five spot goes to another Hyundai again, the i10 Grand. The i10 Grand has been selling at a steady pace, having sold 10112 units in May.

4. Wagon R:
The top four positions have been Maruti Suzuki's for a long time now and has seen just these cars shuffling places at the top. The Wagon R has registered sales of 12467 units in May.
3. Swift:
At number three is the Maruti Suzuki Swift, having sold 17195 units in May. Although a hatchback, the Swift has been selling marginally less compared to its sedan version, the Dzire.
2. Swift Dzire:
Number two in the list is the Swift Dzire, having sold 19663 units in May. Customers prefer the compact sedan compared to its hatchback model so much that it even became the best selling car in India for sometime.

1. Alto:
Leading the list for a long time is the Alto. It was shaken off the top to settle for second briefly only by the Dzire. The Alto registered a sales figure of 22595 units in May.
