India's largest manufacturer of automobiles and trucks, Tata motors had launched last year the inaugural Truck racing competition. Now they have announced that they will be laying the rubber with their trucks on Buddh International Circuit on 15th of March, 2015.
For the 2015 T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship there will be six teams participating with two drivers. All-in-all there will be twelve trucks trading paint in an attempt to conquer the top-spot of the podium.
The teams participating this year are:
- Team Castrol Vecton
- Team Cummins
- Team Tata Technologies Motorsports
- Team Dealer Warriors
- Team Dealer Daredevils
- Team Allied Partners
There will be no Indian driver participant in the 2015 edition of Tata T1 Prima Truck Racing. The Indian manufacturer will be setting up a system in which, drivers who want to participate in the 2016 championship can register. They will shortlist a few drivers and will train them to drive these performance trucks.
The program will be called T1 Driver Program and will focus on commercial drivers entering the competition and trying their luck. Their ultimate goal is to create India's first truck racing driver, who will represent the country in International competitions.
For 2015 Tata Motors will be providing new Prima race trucks, which will be faster, lighter and more aerodynamic than earlier. The truck will be powered by a 8.9-litre engine, which will produce 370 bhp, along with 1550 Nm of peak torque. Top speed has been increased from 110 km/h to 130 km/h with the use of a standard rear axle.
The event will be split between two days at Buddh International Circuit from 14th to 15th March, 2015. On Saturday there will be two qualifying races, which will be followed by two races on Sunday. It will be a complete family event and will commence from 12:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
