Ssangyong Tivoli Compact SUV Commences India Testing
Ssangyong has commenced testing its all-new premium compact SUV on Indian roads. The Tivoli compact SUV model is currently on sale in the European markets and is doing extremely well. Ssangyong is a Korean brand and is currently owned by Mahindra who has a majority stake in the automotive outfit.
Currently, Ssangyong offers only a single product in the Indian market, which is the Rexton. Now, Mahindra plans on entering several new segments with various products for maximum reach. Ssangyong will be portrayed as their premium version of products in several markets.
The Tivoli is most likely to be seen without camouflage for the very first time in India at the 2016 Auto Expo. Ssangyong and Mahindra could launch the Tivoli in the domestic market by mid-2016. In India, the Tivoli will go up against the Hyundai Creta compact SUV.
Under the hood of Ssangyong's Tivoli will be a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine. Both engines will be mated to an optional 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission for customer preference. Only the diesel powered Tivoli is likely to be offered with an AWD (All-Wheel Drive) system.
Tivoli by Ssangyong and Mahindra was launched internationally by mid-2015. The premium compact SUV is priced at 12,950 Pounds to 19,500 Pounds. In India, expect the Tivoli to bear a starting price of Rs.8.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh ex-showroom.
