Second Generation Audi R8 Supercar Heading To Geneva Motor Show
German luxury car maker, Audi will be present at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. They will be debuting their all-new flagship sports car the R8. This will be the second generation model and we have an image of how this supercar will look.
The main aspect about Audi R8 is its mammoth sized engine. German engineers will be providing a mid-mounted 5.2-litre FSI V10 engine. It has been tuned to generate 610 horsepower or 540 horsepower, depending on the model you choose.
The second generation Audi R8 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in quick 3.2 seconds. It can attain a top speed in the range 330 km/h, Audi has provided their supercar with a 7-speed S tronic transmission. The new R8 weighs only 1,454 kilograms without any fluid in it.
Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board Member for Technical Development at Audi, commented, "Motorsport is in Audi's genes, it has always been a permanent feature of our brand's character."
He further added, "With the new Audi R8, our engineers are bringing accumulated racing expertise from the race track onto the road. No other model of ours evokes more dynamic emotion. The new R8 V10 plus is therefore the most powerful and fastest series-production Audi of all time."
The new Audi R8 will be on sale by mid-2015 in several markets, although we are not sure if it will be come to India any time soon. The second generation R8 V10 costs 1,65,000 Euros or INR 1,14,36,300. Audi R8 V10 Plus is priced at 1,87,400 Euros or INR 1,29,88,800.
