Scuderia Ferrari Extend Kimi Raikkonen's F1 Contract
Kimi Raikkonen has been the talk of Formula One paddock during the entire 2015 Championship. The Finn drivers contract is expiring with Scuderia Ferrari and he has not impressed them in opening rounds.
Scuderia Ferrari has, however, put their faith in Kimi Raikkonen and extended his contract for 2016 Championship. His recent form before summer break has earned him the opportunity to continue.
Kimi Raikkonen, expressed, "What can I say.. For me, to be able to stay another year at Ferrari means that the dream goes on. The Scuderia is my family, as I always said, it's here that I want to end my career."
He further added, "I am more committed than ever and I want to say thank you to the people who gave me this chance. Also, a big thank you goes to all my Ferrari fans, for their continuous support."
The Finn driver will continue as teammate to Sebastian Vettel, who has outperformed him during 2015. Raikkonen was exploring other racing options and was contemplating retiring from Formula One.
Other drivers looking at taking Kimi Raikkonen's position were Valtteri Bottas from Williams F1 Racing, Daniel Ricciardo from Red Bull Racing and Nico Hulkenberg of Force India.
