Rosberg Ends 2015 Formula One Season On A High Note
The final round of the 2015 Formula One Championship was contested at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi. Unfortunately, the championship was settled a long time before the final rounds. Abu Dhabi GP was all about setting the tone for the next season as 2015 Championship was settled.
Nico Rosberg displayed tremendous qualifying and race pace, which was effortlessly translated into a win. Rosberg has defeated his teammate, Lewis Hamilton three times in a row. In the final three rounds, Rosberg was extra motivated and it showed in his driving.
Sebastian Vettel had a monumental task up his hand, as he started from 15th position. Kimi Raikkonen started the race from third and drove excellently for a podium finish. Vettel came extremely close to the podium with excellent tyre strategy to finish the race in the fourth position.
Force India ended their 2015 Formula One campaign on a high note as well. Sergio Perez qualified fourth on the grid and completed the Abu Dhabi GP in fifth place. Nico Hulkenberg also secured championship points for his team and finished the Abu Dhabi GP in seventh place.
McLaren Honda duo had mixed results around the Yas Marina circuit. Jenson Button finished a season best of 12th position. Teammate, Fernando Alonso had decent race pace, however, a collision and a drive through penalty ruined his race and he finished in 17th place.
All the teams and drivers will now commence testing for next season. There will be a few rule changes and new engine layouts as well. For the 2016 Formula One Championship, it is expected that more teams will compete against Mercedes domination over the past few years.
