The Kwid was launched in the Indian market a few months ago and has raked in several orders in a short span. Now customers will have to spend more money for their Kwid from January 2016. An increase in prices of approximately three percent will be applied to Renault Kwid.
Currently, the Kwid attracts a starting price of Rs. 2.56 lakh and top-end model cost Rs. 3.53 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). With an increase of three percent Renault Kwid's base model could cost Rs. 2.64 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
At this moment, Renault has witnessed over 75,000 bookings for the Kwid. The vehicle has an approximate waiting period of six months. Renault currently has the capacity to produce 5,000 Kwid models per month and plans on boosting production up to 8,000 Kwid models per month in the coming days.
The Renault Kwid is powered by an 800cc, three-cylinder, petrol engine. The engine produces 53bhp along with 72Nm of peak torque and delivers fuel economy of 25.17 km/l (ARAI approved). Currently, only a 5-speed manual transmission is offered with an AMT option making its way in 2016.
The Kwid is a global product offering that will be manufactured by Renault India and exported to several international markets. Renault is most likely to introduce a more powerful 1.0-litre petrol engine in its Kwid. So far, there is no information as to when this new engine will be featured in the Kwid.
