By Rajkamal
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notification that only Bharat Stage IV (BS-IV) compliant four-wheelers will be manufactured from April 1, 2017 all over India.
In a few states, the Mass Emission Standards for Bharat Stage IV shall come into force from October 1, 2015 and in the rest from April 1, 2016.
Cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad including Secunderabad, Kanpur, Pune, Surat, Agra, Lucknow and Sholapur already have BS-IV grade fuel available.
Implementation and usage of BS-IV grade fuel will help reduce harmful gases such as Carbon Monoxide, Hydrocarbon and Sulphur which are emitted into the atmosphere by vehicles.
