Kerala: Online Taxi Drivers Declare Indefinite Strike
oi-Rajkamal
By Rajkamal
The online taxi business is a very good business idea, unless drivers form a union and go on a strike, like how drivers for Uber have declared an indefinite strike from Tuesday onwards. Their demand: Permanent wage structure.
TRS Kumar, a Spokesman of the online taxi drivers union said that the wages of drivers fluctuate every week. Their demand is that the company should announce a permanent wage structure, be it on a quarterly, half yearly, or yearly basis.
The Spokesman also says that the company deducting 25 percent of the wages should be stopped. It comes as a 'hidden cost' is what the Spokesman says. He also demands that the clause of calls attended should be brought down to 70 percent from 80 percent.
