Nissan Withdraws From LMP1 Class For The 2016 World Endurance Championship
oi-Dennis
By Dennis
Nissan has withdrawn its Nismo GT-R LM LMP1 prototype from the 2016 World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Nissan had returned to LMP1 racing in 2015, with the innovative front-engined, front-wheel drive GT-R LM NISMO. The car only raced at Le Mans, where the lack of power due to the lack of a hybrid system saw the GT-R LM NISMO, lapping around 25 seconds slower than its rivals from Audi and Porsche.
Nissan will still continue to support the WEC through its various engine programs including the one for the recently introduced LMP3 class.
