Nissan Patrol Desert Editon Makes Global Debut At Dubai Motor Show
The Nissan Patrol Desert Edition made its global debut at the 2015 Dubai Motor Show. The new edition is a clear sign that Nissan is committed to delivering tailored models for regional consumers.
"The new Nissan Patrol Desert Edition is priced at $69,430 in the UAE, and it's available immediately in the market," managing director of Nissan Middle East Samir Cherfan told Khaleej Times at the show.
"We are not making money on this model," Cherfan informed.
The standard version of the Nissan Patrol is a capable off-roader, and with this new edition, the Patrol becomes more versatile and powerful to tackle the toughest deserts in the world. The Desert Edition is conceptualised and developed in collaboration with Middle East's famous motorsports personality Dr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
The Desert Edition is based on the Nissan Patrol LE, powered by Nissan's powerful 5.6-litre, V8 engine. On the performance front, the engine delivers 400bhp and 560NM of torque and is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission, which allows manual mode and synchronised rev control — a system that guarantees unmatched performance, whatever the terrain.
When it comes to off-roading, the suspension plays a crucial role, and the Desert Edition Patrol's suspension is tuned after several sessions of hardcore desert testing by Dr. Ben Sulayem and the Nissan team.
Additional off-roading features come in the form of: 'Bead-lock' wheels that allow tyres to function at extremely low pressures, and an onboard tyre inflator for getting the tyres back to normal pressure while back on the road.
The Desert Edition's package is complete with a state-of-the-art navigation system with forward-facing and reversing cameras, along with a Bluetooth hands-free system.
