National Finals of 2015 GT Academy were held at MMSC racetrack in Chennai. Present at the final leg was Karun Chandhok, who will be mentoring the top six aspiring Indian racers.
Here are the final six that will be going to Silverstone boot camp:
- Abhishek Dwarknath
- Anush Chakravarthi
- Akshay Gupta
- Jaideep Chahal
- Shantanu Kallianpukar
Silverstone will have participants from all over the world competing for a single spot. Also present will be finalists from Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines in GT Academy Asian Championship.
Karun Chandhok, former F1 & current Formula E driver, expressed, "I have always vouched for driver development programs that help budding racers."
He further added, "GT Academy is a wonderful initiative to enter motorsports, especially if you do not have the necessary backing. My next task is to bring the six winners today to a level where they can compete with other challengers at an international level."
